Admission & Enrollment Requirements for the 500 Hour Professional Massage Therapy and BodyWork Training Program Admission to the Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. is based upon the following requirements: Admission & Enrollment Procedures Interested students who meet the admission and enrollment requirements (as described above) may begin the admissions process by completing the required forms (application). Students who have withdrawn must re-apply for admission. Students should not hesitate to call (410.744.9130) the school for assistance about any procedure. Policy for Granting Credit for Previous Training or Experience The Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. may grant transfer credit from previous training or experience, determined for each individual, upon approval of MIM (Massage Institute of Maryland) review. Tuition for students who have been granted credits from the Massage Institute of Maryland, or students transferring credits, will be calculated to reflect the reduced number of hours. The tuition adjustment for the program is $10/clock hour for successfully completed transferable credits. The Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. will determine which credits are finally transferable. Credit with advanced standing will be considered for clock hour award if a student with transfer credit has passed a qualifying exam, with an 80% passing grade. Policy for Transferring Credit for Previous Training or Experience Credits earned are for determining progress toward program completion only, and MIM (Massage Institute of Maryland) credits are not necessarily transferable to other private career schools or collegiate institutions. MIM (Massage Institute of Maryland) is not a credit hour institution, though we reserve the right to accept or reject courses from other institutions for credit towards the MIM (Massage Institute of Maryland) 500 Hour Program; after review of curriculum and equivalent hours spent. Maryland's Two Tiered Certification System Under our law and existing regulations, any individual seeking to practice massage therapy in the State of Maryland must be certified or registered under the auspices of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). They may apply (and pass the exam) to the State of Maryland Chiropractic Board for certification to practice massage. Students having at least 60 college credits in addition to all the above requirements will be eligible for a designation as a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT). All other students will be eligible for designation as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). Print the Continuing Education Classes Selection Form by clicking here. 2. Circle your choice of class and/or classes and dates. 3. Mail the form along with a check or money order made Payable to: MIM. 4. Mail to: Massage Institute of Maryland 816 Frederick Rd. Catonsville, MD 21228 5. OR call MIM and register over the phone with your Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard). Do not leave your Credit Card information on the MIM voice mail. Please leave your Name, Phone Number and Class Details and we will call you back. 6. Either way you register, you will be mailed a receipt and confirmation letter. 7. Unless stated otherwise, full payment is required by mail or phone before the class begins. 8. Refunds are made only if you cancel by 5:00pm on Friday, two weeks before the class. 9. Partial payments or deposits are not accepted, but the instructor may offer an early registration discount; see the class description to see if one is available. Our Continuing Education Class Cancellation Policy The instructor of each class determines the minimum number of registered students required for the class to be held. The deadline for registration is generally 4 days before the class. Description of MIM School Location The Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. is located in the heart of downtown historic Catonsville, Maryland. We're in the midst of the Baltimore and Washington D.C.'s thriving commerce, but not far from quaint historic Ellicott City and the vast miles of Maryland's Patapsco State Parks. (at Record and Tape Traders) --We are the second parking lot on the left --We share our parking lot and entrance with the Rehabilitation Team medical practice --Enter the Grey and Pink Building, Enter in the rear - look for the handicap access ramp --Ask for us at the Rehabilitation Team desk or just follow the signs through the waiting room MIM School Facilities and Equipment Massage Institute of Maryland, Inc. consists of a Reception Area, Private Massage Treatment Rooms, Business Office and a large combination Lecture and Practicum area of 2,000 square feet. The school is equipped with modern, up to date demonstration and practice equipment. There are ample massage tables, massage chairs, TVs, VCRs, overhead projectors, slide projectors, skeletons and various charts. A library of books, videos, Internet access, CDs, and cassettes are available for use by enrolled students. We encourage all prospective students to visit our facility and meet our staff. The school is closely associated with both the Catonsville and the Westminster Offices of The Rehabilitation Team, a medical facility designed to treat patients with muscular and neurological disorders.
